Political correctness. Chilly climates. Charges of racism and sexism. Fears of free speech stifled. These issues have generated heated and divisive debate at many universities -- including UBC -- in recent years.
A conference to be held on campus April 10-12 will tackle these and many other
related topics in an effort to foster greater understanding among the often
antagonistic viewpoints.

A significantly higher number of British Columbians are participating in adult education and training programs than were a decade ago, UBC researchers say.
Compared to previous Statistics Canada figures measuring adults' participation
in education and training, the rate of increase in B.C. was more than double
the rate for Canada.

A record 265 students have been accepted into UBC student exchange programs
this year -- 250 in the Exchange Abroad Program (EAP) and 15 in the Group of
