One UBC Family: Three Order of Canada Appointments

On February 8, 2005, Michael P. Robinson became the third member of his family to receive an appointment to the Order of Canada, in recognition of his efforts to build strong partnerships with Aboriginal peoples.

A graduate of UBC’s Faculty of Law (class of ’78), he joins uncle Basil Robinson (class of ’50, and a 1994 inductee into UBC’s Sports Hall of Fame) who was appointed in 1991 for his work as a Canadian diplomat, and father Dr. Geoffrey Robinson, appointed in 2001. UBC Pediatrics Prof. Emeritus Geoffrey Robinson was instrumental in establishing provincial programs for children with hearing disorders, visual impairments and other disabilities. Both Michael and Basil Robinson were also UBC Rhodes Scholars.
