`Amazing' faculty earn 3M awards

Amazing, ardent and approachable are words students use to describe two University of British Columbia faculty members recently named 3M Teaching Fellows.

Associate professors Carol-Ann Courneya, of the Faculty of Medicine and Barbara Paterson, of the School of Nursing, were among 10 Canadian university educators to receive the award.

Program to help first-years feel at home

Six hundred first-year UBC students will participate in a pilot program this year that organizers hope will make it easier for students to form friendships and feel part of the campus community.

Students in the My Undergraduate Group (MUG) Program will join one of 30 small groups led by a senior student. Groups will meet regularly throughout the year to talk about their campus experiences and concerns.

Anchor Mansbridge panelist for Sing Tao

Gene team in hunt for bone tumor cure
